In attendance, over 116 Bichons with Family and Friends.
Yuri
seems to be enjoying herself, telling all about her picnic to her furry friend.
Pat Huber of
White Cloud Bichons gave a grooming demonstration. Doesn't her model look
gorgeous?!
This is Sammy
Jo here with his dad, John. They flew in all the way from Atlanta, GA,
winning a basket from Bisketbaskets for the farthest traveled guest.
THE MOST THRILLING PART OF THE PICNIC WAS OF COURSE, THE COSTUME CONTEST. HERE ARE SOME OF THE ENTRIES.
Every Bichon getting ready for "the big show".
Trinita with her gang in Raingear.
Ain't this little girl precious?
Hu-mom went to a lot of trouble on these adoreable costumes for "the
ranch". They fit right in with our other cows...better not get lost
out on the range. LOL
The winning entries were as follows: 1st Place went to Wiggles , proudly owned by Bernadette Sisneros for a Clown costume. 2nd place belonged to Carol Widell and her two cuties, Molly and Mercedes for their Hula Costumes and Hula Dance, 3rd. Place went to Sasha & Sassy, owned by Cyndee for their Can-Can Girl outfits, and 4th place went to the wonderful Cow costumes designed by Pat Minehan (I think they should have got 1st place, But I wasn't voting LOL), 5th Place belonged to a darling little one in a Ballerina costume created by Sharon Smith for her little girl "Sassy". All in all, it was a wonderful show of support by those who participated.
Dax exhausted from a hard day at play. He and hu-mom Becky traveled all the way from Northern Nebraska for this year event.
All in all, the picnic was a big success. We doubled what we raised last year, thanks to some large donations, and the silent auction. We were so exhausted afterwards. we needed a week to recouperate.
We would like to acknowledge the help of some of our wonderful volunteers:
Rick Bishop, our wonderful MC, Gail Bates, our picnic coordinator, Gail Bohall, Carol Lee, Pet ID Tags and all the others who manned retail booths and donated their sales to our rescue fund. All those who stood in the heat and directed traffic, especially, Maxie's Dad, and Baxters Mom.
