2002 Picnic
The "We want you in 2002" picnic was held at the Julia DeKovin Park in Littleton, Colorado on June 22, 2002. This will be our new site from year to year, as it was very convenient for everyone, and there were covered tables and lots of trees. The day was warm and breezy and just perfect for a family picnic! And what a family we had...
Here
are Mom and I at the registration table. We had a total of 82 Registered
Dog guests this year! In addition to 5 rescues in need of homes, and our pet
dogs. In addition to the registration, we had donated items up
for raffle. FYI, everyone who entered the raffle won
something!
The cooks did a marvelous job at keeping the grill going, and keeping the humans
happily fed. Safeway of Elizabeth generously donated our picnic foods
again this year!
Kenny
looks a little confused don't you think?
The humans are ready for the action.
These families had the right idea and brought their own shade...
But I think this little guy wants to know why dad has him all penned up...Come
on Gary, it is after all, HIS picnic!
And some came in a little more style than others...
The dumpling gang of course in their pink bows are famous at any dog
gathering.
Getting set up for the upcoming "action"
And just so you don't think it is "Bichons Only"...these guests were
as welcome as the fluffs. (There is a Bichon hiding in the midst if you
look real close).
Opening the day, was the Relay Race...
with some of the humans in the lead. Believe it or not, everyone ran off
lead, and not one dog tried to leave the course.
Rick, dad to Rosie our Senior Bichon of the day at the age of 17, was wonderful as our MC...
Roy came up from Colorado Springs for the fun with his two
rescues. All three said they had a terrific time.
And some of our guests were
dressed to kill in new do's...Aren't these guys gorgeous!?!
This
little one arrived looking for a new home.
Her human died leaving her homeless. : - (
Dr. Annette, was on hand for micro-chipping...
and, Sherry came down from Nebraska to see all her kiddo's and brought Feebe B Beebe
and Sissy Pom-Pom. She said she could tell
who was who just by looking at them. What a great grandma she is!
Our
costume contest, as always, was a huge hit! Unfortunately, this is the only
photo we have that came out. Ain't she a doll in her Cowboy
costume?!? The 3 judges are in the background...they had a very tough job!
Casper,
Shorty and Yuki won awards for the most dogs and for the oldest (Shorty).
They are proudly owned by Dolores and Bob, our wonderful
photographer.

And last, but never least, our group photo shoot...So many smiles!
Oh, and the most exciting of all, Channel 4 news came out and gave us a spot on the 5 pm news...
Set your sites for next year. 2003 Picnic Invitation. Don't miss out on the fun!
